IT WAS a massive week for auctions in early June, with millions of dollars’ worth of property sold close to the CBD, just days apart.

A Teneriffe home started the trend, with 32 Teneriffe Drive selling under the hammer for $4,405,000 on June 4.

An iconic Clayfield home at 9 Craven St, Clayfield sold for $4 million, while a New Farm Queenslander, at 22 Abbott St, followed closely at $3.36 million.

McGrath Estate Agents sales agent Henry Hodge, who sold the Teneriffe home, said buyers in the suburb were seeking a lifestyle.

“Teneriffe feels very peaceful, very quiet,” Mr Hodge said.

“It’s the only suburb in Brisbane where you’re that close to the city, but it feels a bit more suburban, it’s got lifestyle opportunities.

“Some of Brisbane’s best restaurant are located within walking distance.

“The only other alternative suburbs with such good quality restaurants is Brisbane City, which has no houses in it obviously.

“Teneriffe is it’s still a very friendly community environment.”

Mr Hodge said more than 120 groups of people inspected the property in the four-week auction campaign and seven bidders registered to buy it.

“In that end of the market it’s unusual to have more than two or three bidders and we had seven registered bidders at the auction,” he said.
